Our GPs are able to arrange COVID-19 testing at designated collection centres or for your convenience, self-collection at home.
Self-Collect Tests are performed by Histopathy Diagnostic Pathology (a NATA accredited laboratory and approved by the TGA).
The advantages of self-collections is it reduces exposing others to potential infection. It can be more convenient, rather than attending a clinic or drive through centre. The self-collection method is accepted by NSW Health. It is accurate if instructions are followed carefully and the virus is present in the upper nasopharynx.
Self-collection is not suitable where a patient is unable to perform the collection, or there is concern that the collection is being tampered with the aim of getting a negative result to travel or return to work.
