Acupuncture and Dry Needling

Acupuncture

Surry Hills Physios at Crown St Medical Centre offer specialised physiotherapy services including acupuncture and dry needling. Acupuncture is used as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy and there is evidence for is modern day use in the treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions.
Performed by our skilled Physiotherapist, Yohan, fine needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points along the body following internal channels called the Meridians. By inserting these fine needles, our physiotherapist is able to unblock these channels allowing for qi to flow through the Meridians promoting harmony throughout the body.
Yohan uses Acupuncture to manage a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders ranging from, and not limited to, chronic osteoarthritis, low back pain, and neck and shoulder injuries to the acute sprained ankle, strained muscles or torn ligaments.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a Western concept influenced by its Chinese counterpart Acupuncture. However, our trained dry needling physiotherapist relies on current neuroanatomy and physiology to treat a range of muscular disorders.
Following the idea of myofascial trigger points, or hypersensitive knots in the muscles, our physiotherapist will insert fine needles into these trigger points activate a twitch response which eventuates into a relaxing and stimulating healing response. Pain relief is achieved by activating a pain inhibiting neural response following the pain gate theory.
Our physiotherapist, Nancy, treats a variety of musculoskeletal disorders with dry needling on the everyday person to the sporting elite.

Crown St Physiotherapy look forward to servicing patients in the Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Redfern, Waterloo, Paddington and Inner Sydney. We are welcoming new patients.
